Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about online counselling, therapy sessions, couples counselling and starting therapy.

Do I need to know exactly what is wrong before starting therapy?

No. Many people come to counselling with a sense that something feels difficult or unsettled without fully understanding why. Therapy can help create space to make sense of that gradually.

Do you offer online counselling across the UK?

Yes. I work online with adults and couples across the UK, including clients in Bicester and Oxfordshire.

How long do people usually come to therapy for?

There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for shorter term support around a particular issue, while others choose longer term therapy to explore deeper emotional and relationship patterns.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to begin understanding what is bringing you to therapy and what you hope may feel different over time. There is no pressure to explain everything perfectly.

How do online counselling sessions work?

Sessions take place online using a secure video platform. Many people find online counselling offers flexibility, privacy and the comfort of being in their own space while still allowing a meaningful therapeutic relationship to develop.

Do you work with couples as well as individuals?

Yes. I work with both individuals and couples. Couples counselling can help when relationships feel stuck in repetitive patterns, conflict, emotional distance or communication difficulties.

Are you a registered BACP counsellor?

Yes. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework. I also undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
